(Modesto, CA) — Today, Ceres Mayor Javier Lopez endorses John Duarte for his 2024 re-election campaign to California's 13th Congressional District. Mayor Lopez joins a growing list of elected officials, business owners, and community leaders who have endorsed John Duarte districtwide.

Mayor Lopez has deep ties to Ceres, living and working in the community since 1970. Mayor Lopez runs a local sports apparel and athletic business, as well as coaching high school Freshman football at Central Valley High School. Javier Lopez was elected Mayor of Ceres in 2020.

In announcing his endorsement, Mayor Lopez stated:

"I am pleased to announce my endorsement in support of John Duarte for re-election in CA-13. Congressman Duarte has been a champion for the city of Ceres and the Valley which are often left behind, advocating for the issues that matter to us the most. As Mayor, I’ve seen the effects of high state taxes and hardships on valley families and all they have been put through. I look forward to continuing working together with Congressman Duarte to improve our communities."

Following the endorsement Congressman John Duarte responded:

"I am thankful to have received an endorsement from a respected community leader and elected official like Mayor Lopez. Right now, Central Valley families are being crushed by high prices of gas, groceries, and an increasing cost of living. I remain focused on championing bipartisan solutions that benefit hard-working Valley families, and working with Mayor Lopez to continue uplifting the people of Ceres."
