John Duarte Invites Adam Gray to Series of Debates

‘Today’s political climate deserves a civil discourse of ideas’

RELEASED AUGUST 4, 2022

(Merced, CA)— Farmer and Businessman John Duarte has proposed* a series of four public debates with Assemblymember Adam Gray in the race for the thirteenth Congressional District, a contest that has quickly become one of the most watched in the country.

In the letter sent to Gray, Duarte writes, “It is important that people are able to have an open forum to discuss our differing views for the future of our country. I am sure you will agree that in today’s world a civil, open exchange of ideas would be a welcome change to the voters. To that end, I am hoping you will accept this offer to give them that.”

Duarte is hoping the two teams will work together to provide this opportunity to the voters. He also hopes the media will participate by hosting or broadcasting each of them.

“With all the negativity surrounding politics today it is my hope that Assemblymember Gray and I can work together to provide voters a unique opportunity to engage us as candidates on the issues that matter most to the Valley,” said Duarte. “One of the primary reasons I am running for Congress is to be a voice for the people who haven’t had one and for me that starts even before they check their ballot.”

Duarte went on to say, “as this race has become one of the most competitive races in the country and with the balance of the house at stake there will be a lot of money and advertisements on behalf of both campaigns. I hope that these debates will provide the opportunity to the voters to meet the candidates and see their differences for themselves.”

The Duarte campaign has mailed a letter to Gray’s offices and is looking forward to engaging in an agreeable path forward to give the voters the opportunity to hear from both candidates in person.
